Artist's Bio ~
Janice Stephenson is a gifted Canadian artist whose versatility allows her to easily adapt to the task at hand. Although she enjoys variety in her subject matter, landscape themes have remained her favourite. She has traveled extensively and many of her paintings reflect the beauty of these countries. A fascination of the landscape, with all of its variation and detail, can be seen in her work.
Janice has done many personal and corporate commissions over the years and continues to pursue new projects and enjoys doing custom work from clients' photos of family homes and cottages.Janice would be honoured to paint some of your holiday memories or that special place for that special someone.
A seasoned artist for more than 40 years, her parents bought her a paint set at the age of 12 and she has been painting ever since. In honour of her parents' faith in her, Janice still signs her paintings with her maiden name, Stephenson. Although Janice has not had any formal art training, she has been fortunate to observe some very talented people during her life who have enjoyed sharing a few trade secrets with her along the way. She has worked with different media such as pastels and watercolours, but her favourite is oil paints. She has also enjoyed doing some Japanese style woodcut prints, which is the oldest form of printmaking.
When Janice is not painting, she and her husband Derek work together at their company, Original Art & Gifts, custom designing gift baskets and providing unique and creative gift giving options to residents and businesses in the area.Her daughter Holly, along with family, friends and a variety of family pets give her great joy, encouragement and inspiration.
